Thibault Cauvin was born with a guitar in his hands, given by his father, himself a musician. And he followed the natural path from then on. He first studied at the Bordeaux Conservatoire and later at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur, graduating with honors. Quite playful, he became passionate about international competitions, the only springboard for an artist who wants to make a career. Widely acclaimed for his youth, passion and creativity, he wouldn’t stop winning prizes and aged 20, he had won a total of 36 prizes (13 first prizes) – more than any guitar player. He got more and more concert engagements. The world wanted to hear the young lord of the six strings.

Thibault has been touring extensively for 15 years now, playing both in the most prestigious and most amazing halls in the world. Virtually 130 countries, 1000 solo concerts with this unique guitar stirring the New York Carnegie Hall, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Hall, the Beijing Forbidden City, and the London Queen Elizabeth Hall. As he loves very special musical moments, Thibault chose to play in symbolic, atypical and magic places during his 2017 “Magic Tour”. He began his tour at the Eiffel Tower in January 2017 and he halted at The Hague Peace Palace, the Quito ruins in Ecuador, the Marrakech palm grove, a tower top in Shanghai…

In October 2016, Sony music released “The Vivaldi Album”, Thibault’s 9th CD, recorded at the Paris Philharmonie with the Orchestre de chambre de Paris conducted by J. Masmondet. This new recording was immediately acclaimed and Thibault was featured in virtually all the main popular French media, including talk shows and music specials like the Victoires de la Musique Classique (the French Classical Grammy Awards so to say).A classical musician has rarely been seen in the French media as much as he is. His popular image and his universal playing is also most appreciated in the specialized media: this even led Thibault to be France Musique’s guest for an entire homage day. The young lord of the strings has grown up and his dream to move people’s heart seems to come true.

Thibault just recorded a new disc that will be released this fall. With musics written in association with composers met along his endless tour, he tells some the the great cities of the world that touched him. An album which invites to travel and dream, made of unexpected duets, fragiles, with performers coming from others musical worlds, but bring together by the travel’s poetry: Erik Truffaz, Ballaké Sissoko, Matthieu Chedid, Didier Lockwood, Lea Desandre, Christian-Pierre La Marca, Adélaïde Ferrière, + 1 surprise guest. Recorded at the mythical Château d’Hérouville, which re-opened its doors for the occasion after 15 years of silence, this disc will certainly have a very special flavor…

In 2013, Thibault Cauvin was designated a Bordeaux Ambassador. He also sponsors the Paris Guitar Foundation. A passionate surfer, he is sponsored by Billabong. The sky is the limit for Thibault and his guitar. His inspired, expressive and natural playing can only please all types of audiences across generations and abolish boundaries. As he plays the guitar – a both popular and erudite instrument which is pretty new to classical music in comparison to others – it is likely to become the queen among musical instruments in the 21st century…
