Taiwan-born conductor Yao-Yu Wu began his conducting learning in Taipei National University of the Arts, with Prof. Hsu Sung-Jen.

Wu began his international career after the success of 53rd International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors which he won first prize, « Prize from public »and « Prize from orchestra »in 2013. In two years Wu was invited to work with various orchestras and received great appreciations, included Orchestre National de Lorraine, Orchestre National de Bordeaux, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Philharmonic, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, Wu was invited to International Music Olympus Festival, conducting St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

Wu was also a active opera conductor from student age in Taiwan. He promoted amounts of opera and working with many singers with enthusiasm. He conducted the opening memorial concert of Taichung Metropolitan Opera House in Taiwan, which is the first opera house in Taiwan, and as the conductor of National Theatre opera studio in 2014.
