Violinist/violist Yura Lee is the winner of the only first prize awarded across the four categories in the 2013 ARD Music Competition in Munich, Germany. She is also the recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Yura Lee is enjoying a career that spans almost two decades, and takes her all over the world. Her musical integrity and her compelling artistry were praised by both the critic and some of the most respected artists of today.

As a soloist, she has appeared with many major orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the Saint Louis Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the NDR Symphonieorchester, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, and many others. Ms. Lee has performed with conductors Christophe Eschenbach, Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, Myung-Whun Chung, Mikhail Pletnev, among many others.

Ms. Lee was nominated and represented by Carnegie Hall for its ECHO (European Concert Hall Organization) series. For this series, Ms. Lee gave recitals at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and at nine celebrated concert halls in Europe: Wigmore Hall in London, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Stockholm Konserthus, the Athens Concert Hall and the Cologne Philharmonie.

At age 12, Ms. Lee became the youngest artist ever to receive the Debut Artist of the Year prize at the « Performance Today » awards given by National Public Radio. Ms. Lee received numerous international prizes, including the first prize and the audience prize at the 2006 Leopold Mozart Competition (Germany), the first prize at the 2010 UNISA International Competition (South Africa), and top prizes in the Indianapolis (USA), Hannover (Germany), Kreisler (Austria) and Paganini (Italy) Competitions.

Ms. Lee’s CD with Reinhard Goebel and the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, titled ‘Mozart in Paris’ (Oehms Classics) received the prestigious Diapason d’Or Award (France) in 2008.

Yura Lee est née en République de Corée en 1985. Elle commence ses études de violon à 4 ans et dès 5 ans son extraordinaire talent est reconnu par le 1er Prix du Concours Hankook Ilbo à Séoul. A 7 ans elle débute avec l’orchestre de Corée, le KBS Symphony, dans le Concerto N° 1 pour Violon de Bruch.

Violoniste et altiste, Yura Lee a remporté le seul premier prix décerné aux quatre catégories lors du concours international de l’ARD en 2013 à Munich (Allemagne). Elle est également récipiendaire de la prestigieuse bourse Avery Fisher Career. Reconnue dans le monde entier, Yura Lee est encensée par la critique et par les plus grands artistes pour son intégrité musicale et son univers artistique.

La saison 1999-2000 voit ses débuts au Carnegie Hall avec Leonard Slatkin, et à Washington avec le National Symphony Orchestra. Dès la saison 2002-03, elle est parrainée par le Carnegie Hall pour ses séries de promotion européenne ECHO (European Concert Hall Organization), avec des récitals au Wigmore Hall de Londres, au Symphony Hall de Birmingham, au Musikverein de Vienne, au Mozarteum de Salzburg, au Palais des Beaux-Arts à Bruxelles, au Concertgebouw d’ Amsterdam, au Stockholm Konserthus, et enfin au Philharmonie de Cologne.

Yura Lee est lauréate de nombreux concours internationaux dont le premier prix et le prix du public à la Leopold Mozart Competition en 2006 (Allemagne), le premier prix de la UNISA International Competition en 2010 (Afrique du Sud) et les plus hautes distinctions de compétitions à Indianapolis (Etats-Unis), Hanovre (Allemagne), Kreisler (Autriche) et Paganini (Italie).

Son enregistrement avec Reinhard Goebel et le Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, ‘Mozart in Paris’ (Oehms Classics) a reçu le prestigieux Diapason d’Or (France) en 2008.
