Born in a family of musicians, Kai Strobel received his first percussion lessons at the age of 6 years under Prof. Marta Klimasara.

From 2008 to 2011 he was student at the “Musikhochschule Stuttgart”. At the same time, Strobel got Jazz Percussion lessons from Jogi Nestel and played many years as a Jazz Drummer in a Bigband withsuccessful tours in USA, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapur. Meanwhile Kai studies Percussion at the Anton Bruckner private university in Linz with Prof. Bogdan Bacanu and Prof. Leonhard Schmidinger.

He won several 1st prices in the German youth competition “Jugend-Musiziert”, various prizes in Marimba and Percussion Competitions in Germany, Italy, France, Austria and Romania, and he was semifinalist in the prestigious ARD Competition. Since 2011, Kai is scholarship holder of the “Christel-Guthörle-Stiftung Reutlingen”.

As a Soloist, he performed Marimba Concertos with the Lübecker Philharmoniker and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, additionally he had productions with the german Radio Stations NDR and BR.

He played in modern projects in the theatres of Mannheim and Linz. In  2014, he was awarded as laureate of the  international summer academy of Mozarteum Salzburg and performed  in a concert of the Salzburger Festspiele.
